Fall Style

While I was taking a much needed vacation, summer disappeared and fall arrived, and with the recent snow fall I think winter has arrived. My husband still thinks we are going to get a heat wave but I think we are in for WINTER. So let's talk about what new colors and styles are up and comming in the next season. COATIGAN- a new style term for a cardigan blended with a coat are all the rage in many textures and designes. They can be worn as a jacket or a sweater and come in new hues such as hunter green, evergreen forest, dark wine and rich red. The most talked about colors are going to be in rich shades of green with textures of velvet, uncut cord and wool. So as you are browsing through stores keep your eye out for military accents and chic sexy suits . Of course all in shimmering shades of green.

Dress For Success

Yesterday, Polished Images did a great little presentation on dressing for success and here are some tips that you might find useful .
Tip#1: Dress to meet your customer expectations...if you come across as business like and professional over the phone and e-mails,you want to make sure that what you wear matches that level of professionalism. Your dress attire shouldn't create any visual surprises when you meet them.
Tip#2: Dress for the job you want.....don't dress for the job you have . Look around and start paying attention to what the successful people in your industry are dressed like ,then dress at that level.
Tip#3: Dress for success even in your casual wear....no flip flops ,spaghetti strap tanks ,shorts ,skorts,or short skirts and for the men ,no sandals ,athletic socks t-shirts. On business casual days your dress should be just one level down from your your standard business wear.
Tip#4: Fit for success ....want to be seen as a successful person who pays attention to details? Wear clothing that is in good repair, well pressed and impeccable. If you pay attention to the little details of your professional appearance, people will assume that you will pay attention to the CRUCIAL details of business .Shoes should be polished ,necklines and face clean shaven and if you don't have time for shoe detail there is a cute little business called Clean Smart Shoe & Bag Detailing Ltd (1-306-974-0093)that can take care of it for you . Ladies, they clean and repair purses as well as replace lifts on shoes . Remember ,it's all in DETAILS!

The more comfortable your clients are with you,the more business they will do with you.

Nude Hues

Nude Hues..... It's a warm flesh tone that flatters everyone. There are many different shades and so the best pick is to choose a tone that contrasts with your complexion.Blend with pops of color, texture and always add a extra swipe of blush. Dark skin looks luminous against a beige solid dress ,while flesh tone heels visually elongate legs. A camel blazer compliments fair complexion and a rosy top and chiffon skirt are the perfect outfit for olive skin. Nude Hues what a simple addition to our summer wardrobes.

SUN FUN

I thought it would be a good idea to blog about SPF for men as they often get forgotten about when it comes to sun protection. So here are some pointers that will help protect them and keep them damage free.
Tell him he looks hot in a hat......the bigger the brim, the more coverage.
Sunscreen stash.......make it guy friendly, fragrance free stick or spray with SPF of 15 or higher. Stash it in his car so it's always available . Sunscreen degrade in heat so replace once a month.
Shades....wether they cost $20 or $200 doesn't matter just look for 100 percent UVA and UVB protection . Make sure lenses cover the skin between his eye and nose on both sides of his nose.
Lips......Guard his kisser with lip balm of at least 15 SPF,and last on the list....... Aftersun.....Aloe lotion so that when they have too much sun you can instantly cool his hot skin. Let's get our MEN to practice safe sun! Have a great summer and enjoy the summer sun safely.

Summer Watermelon Color

So I think summer has finally arrived and that means we can start to enjoy
our summer wardrobe. What is really exciting me this summer is the new watermelon color. It is a pinky-red hue with a touch of bright orange and plays well with neutrals such as white or khaki. You can also try pairing it up with a pop of bright tangerine( our spring tangerine tango looks awesome with this sweet summer shade)or cobalt blue. To wear this fab feminine color look try solid dresses with clean lines or a punch of color with separates such as blouses, sweaters, or sandals. A silk scarf would be the perfect compliment to this easy breezy casual but crisp style, and just in time for summer soirée. Easily created and fabulously fun. ENJOY!

Fathers Day Style

As a Polished Image Consultant I get asked a lot about fashion for guys and as Fathers Day approaches what better time for some basic tips to show some style;
PANTS...should be flat front whether they are khakis or suit pants .
SHIRTS..make sure it's a modern-cut,one that is more fitted . Most men wear shirts that are roomier which give them excessive fabric around the middle drawing attention to the one place that does not need it
TIES....stripes work well for the work place ,pattern ties should be worn elsewhere They also should not be to wide because they will date you unles you are Don Cherry.
ACCESSORIES ...pocket squares(the little colored scarf in the top outside pocket of a suit) and cuff links are excellent style updates to any suit . They make excellent Fathers Day gifts and lets face it Dad all ready has to many ties. The sale associates at Anthony fashions For Men have an entire display case dedicated just for such GIFTS

These are just some of my basic suggestions for our hard to style guys .For more ideas tune into Global Tv Morning Show Saskatoon,Sask on June 11 at about 7:45 am and learn how to WOW your man. HAPPY FATHERS DAY love you Dad!!

Shrugs

On the may long weekend ,I was dress shopping for my girlfriend who is attending a wedding out of state. No small feat in our fair city as we have a lot of stores to choose from ,just not a lot of styles to choose from, especially for our experienced clientele . We found THE DRESS and then started to accessorize and that's when the conversation turned to SHRUGS . They are still one of the top 10 picks for the seasons best but here are some hints for the little shoulder cover- ups .......
When the dress is ruffled or has a lot of detail ,chose one that just covers the upper arms and shoulders with minimum front detail.
Longer SHRUGS that tie work well with little sun dresses or maxi dresses.
It doesn't matter what color but black is always a little dressier.
Pashmina,s are great as shoulder shrugs, wear them around your neck as a scarf for color then as the night progresses ,use around your shoulders for warmth. They especially are wonderful travel mates as they turn into blankets on airplanes.
I think you can never go wrong adding a shoulder shrug as part of your accessories. Keep it simple and have fun with it. These little BEST FRIENDS are great support for your dress up days.

Nail Art

Nails are no longer a simple accessory , they are also a bona fide art form . Nail artists are gravitating to magnetic nail lacquer: iron powder pigments that shift and creates a pattern when a magnet hovers over wet nail polish. Many nail salons offer jeweled ,glitter or precision work and all that is required is imagination and an ultra thin nail brush . For the do it your self consumers try the peel and stick nail art at any pharmacy or drug store outlet. For myself, I'll stick to seeing my nail artist Amy at Sunserra On 8Th,Saskatoon,Sask. Not only is she amazing with created images ( she can draw batman on nails )she also shapes my nails into the latest oval shape that mirrors the curve of my cuticle. My time at the salon is spent relaxing and sipping coffee , leaving the hard work and fabulous runway color drama up to the expert.SO Go AHEAD AND COLOR YOUR WORLD WITH THE LATEST SEASON,S HOTTEST NAIL COLORS AND TAKE YOUR MANICURE TO THE NEXT LEVEL!

WOW

Wow I just read another article on the power of color and this year that power color is tangerine, coral,or bold orange. What ever you want to call it ,it's every wear . It takes the best of the two primary colors, drama red and sunshine yellow and becomes eye-catching and energetic, fresh and fun with a certain kind of whimsy that we are all drawn to. You will see it in decor magazines,on paint and fabric swatches, throw cushions and patio furniture as well as accessories such as jewellery, shoes, purses and scarves. So go ahead find a hue of orange or what I like to call TANGERINE TANGO ,that suits your personality and wear or display with confidence. It is the color of 2012!

Spring's Most Wanted

The spring runways are featuring a lot of very colorful clothing and ladies that changes our basic beauty essentials. Here are what I consider spring must-haves; Highlighter: for the top of your cheekbones, your browbone and your Cupid,s bow. Bronzer: choose the right bronzer for your skin, watch for it to not be to orange. Blush: peachy-pink blush is one of the biggest new trends for spring this year. Lips: be careful not to pair a bright lip with a bright jacket.Focus on making your skin look really fresh and do not try to match your outfit. The safe way to go bright is with your nail polish. With the clothing taking center stage ,keep the look soft. Makeup is a fun way to play pretty with this seasons bold colors so mix it up and make it yours. This spring it's all about you!

The Oscars Hair Styles

The Oscars allow us the opportunity to view fashion that lets us escape the humdrum of winter and covet the dream of dress-up. On a night in which the stars come out to shine it is not only about the clothes, but also about the hair. I just recently learned about a bun sock that makes incredible big buns and there was a lot of that look at the Oscars. You take a sock that matches your color of hair ,or as close to as possible, cut the toe off,put the ends of your hair in the toe sock and wind it up and pin it ,covering the sock. It takes a few try's but it works creating a fuller thicker bun. My suggestion would be to set your hair in hot rollers first as it will give you more control of the fly aways. It's amazing how secure it feels and how little of pins you need. I wonder if that's how Canadian actress Tina Fey made her hair look so great. At the Oscars it is always about the finish and the bun sock makes a clean ,smooth finish to awe inspiring red carpet fashions.

Hidden Treasures

As I travelled through Arizona I came across some lovely shops that sell slightly worn clothing , shops that they call re-sale. It made me realize that as we prepare for spring and detox our closets we need to have a place to take our clothes as well as places to shop . Saskatoon has some amazing re- sale shops that offer us the opportunity to do just that. One of those shops is called Lofty Lady's and if you are interested you just might find a little gem hidden in the racks of name brands or shoes with names on them. Take a wander , maybe you will find your treasure .

Hemlines

Its all about variating hemlines and 2012 is no different. How do we make sense of it all, here is a few tips for choosing. Look lean in a long skirt by wearing a hemline that sits just below the knee which will flatter the calf and conceal fuller thighs. A monochromatic look allows you to wear shorter skirts while creating a long line from heels to head, giving the appearance of a few extra inches. If going shorter , nothing elongates a leg like skin colored shoes. Try choosing a pair that matches your skin tone for a even more pronounced effect. Look fabulous at any age with any hemline by adding leggings, still one of the hottest trends this season So what ever the occasion put your best foot forward in any HEMLINE you choose , it's all about ...FUN ...FEARLESS ...FASHION...!

Go bold

Love this dress, it's all about lace. Classic shape and the color says vavoom. We are still going to see a lot of texture this spring and especially on shoes.Add a belt for a ultra feminine waist, the thicker the belt, the more dramatic the look. If wearing layers then it's all about antique inspired accessories. Not to forget the hair, ask for a graduated bob(sixties influenced) and buttery highlights.Refresh your style. GO BOLD!

Love Your Shape...

Loving 2012 starting off the year great with this fabulous new blog.

No matter what size, shape, height or hair, your image is your highest and best investment in your career.

A brand new year calls for a new look and it's all about the colour grape. It adds richness and depth with is blend of warmth and cool hues and compliments every complexion. You can wear it on its own or you can put it into your outfit as your neutral, where you would normally wear brown or grey. Grape easily combines with lots of colour. Go bold with teals or yellows or add ivory for a softer tone. If you want to keep the focus on the deep grape piece that you have just added to your wardrobe then add black shoes, black purse. For makeup add a plum pencil and keep the look soft and neutral on the eyes. Line lips with a neutral pencil and add grape lip gloss.

Jazz up your closet classics and add instant dazzle with a little "GRAPE" style.
